    As another person suggested looking for another media player/recorder I found one here, and actually bought 3 for each LCD TV in my house :) MyHD Media Extender and Recorder BM3030

    It has marginal support for any codec (it works with some specs for Xvid, some Divx and another variations for the MPEG4). But it won’t play most of your multimedia files (or some will be played without sound, with distorted sound, distorted image, it will cut your movie at any point and you will not be able to seek any specific location in time). The “best” recorded TV material is a little inferior to a VHS recording. If you try to setup a scheduled recording is very tricky and non-intuitive. There are no upgrades for it from manufacturer. And if you record more than 1 hour it is painfully slow to seek over the time and also it cuts parts (maybe 1 or 2 minutes) every 3 hours. The only admitted format is FAT32 (you need a new utility to format your IDE 2.5″ Hard Disk). I would suggest look anothe PVR.
