  2. Okay, first the good. It’s nice to have a more complete collection of Janet’s Virgin Records videos, with 4 more than on the Limited Edition All For You DVD that came out in 2001. It’s nice to get the remix video of Someone to Call My Lover. The extras of the live performances are sweet. It’s also cool to have the videos mixed in 5.1 surround sound while still retaining the option for Dolby 2.0. The not so good: they left out the video for “Just a Little While” and substituted it for a taped performance of the song and it’s kind of bland. Also, despite what I had heard in advance, there is no video for “R&B Junkie”. Compared to the prior DVD, the image quality isn’t that sharp but instead more fuzzy and indistinct. I watched “All for You” on both to compare. I also miss the video jukebox feature of the prior DVD because here you can’t make a playlist of the videos you want to see. I also wish they could have included more videos that are out there like the black and white version of You Want This and the Blackstreet version of I Get Lonely, etc. Still, this is a pretty good collection for anyone who doesn’t own the special edition DVD and a must have for any serious Janet fan!

On March 30th , 2004 Janet Jackson released her 8th album , “Damita Jo”. That’s not only her middle name , but one of her sexual alter-egos she says she expreses on the record. But this wasn’t the first time Ms. Damita Jo had a major response with her album. She also released “Control” , “Rhythm Nation 1814″ , “janet.” , “The Velvet Rope” , and “All For You” (her first two records weren’t sucsessful). And on this DVD , Janet covers all her amazing work with Virgin Records. The tracklisting is as follows :

    1. That’s The Way Love Goes

    2. If

    3. Again

    4. Any Time , Any Place

    5. Because Of Love

    6. You Want This (Featuring MC Lyte)

    7. Got ‘Till It’s Gone (Featuring Q-Tip & Joni Mitchell)

    8. Together Again

    9. Together Again (Deeper Remix)

    10. I Get Lonely

    11. Go Deep

    12. You

    13. Every Time

    14. All For You

    15. Someone To Call My Lover (SoSo Def Remix Featuring Jermaine Dupri)

    16. Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You) (With Carly Simon) (The Original Flyte Tyme Remix Featuring Missy Elliot)

    17. Just A Little While (Bonus UK Live Version)

    18. I Want You

    19. All Nite (Don’t Stop)

    20. R&B Junkie

Bonus features include an interview , photo gallery , and Janet’s apperence on “On Air! With Ryan Seacreast”. This is a big stretch from “The Virgin Years” limited edition collection she released in 2001 (with the clean version of the “All For You” album). C’mon Janet , we can’t wait!!! Drop it , drop it!

In the album “All For You”, Janet made more music videos, and I know that, because I own them on mpeg… There’s a video for “Doesn’t Really Matter”, and also, I truly hate the version of “Someone To Call My Lover” they included. In the Damita Jo section, the live performance of Just A Little while didn’t really look like a live performance… where is the public? and she doesn’t even sing, plus, the song is cut in over 1 minute! That so called “live performance” can be everything but a real live performance. I agree with a guy here who said he hated the silly music before the videos. I really don’t like that either.

But, there’s a but, I liked a lot those performances included as bonus features… The All Nite Don’t Stop performance in that kind of mall is really, really good, and the MuchMoreMusic performances are really good and exciting, I have to say. When I watched them for the very first time, I really kind of felt the good vibes there… It is a good compilation, but it could have been much better.

OK, I really thought this DVD was great but if you’ve got All For You (Limited Edition) don’t but it because you’re only missing out on 4 or 5 videos! Anyway, I bought this because I’ve seen not that much Janet music videos, my favourites are:

    All Nite (Don’t Stop)

    Son of a Gun

    All For You

    If

    Go Deep

    Together Again

    Every Time

The reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because if you watch it a lot, it can get boring! And because they replaced the Just A Little While music video with a live performance. I enjoyed the special features, especially the Damita Jo interview, and thought that this was much better than Design of a Decade! Also, I really hated Together Again (Deeper Remix) it was too boring! Anyway, if you love Janet and don’t have All For You (Limited Edition) buy it. But if you’ve just started liking Janet, I would advise you to listen to the albums first.
